Quick Summary
Under the Washington Electronic Product Recycling Law, manufacturers of covered electronic products (CEPs) are responsible for financing their return share obligation of CEPs collected and recycled from covered entities in the state. Manufacturers can choose to participate in the state standard plan operated by the Washington Materials Management and Financial Authority or to implement their own independent plan (or coordinate with other manufacturers to implement an independent plan). Any collectors, transporters, and recyclers utilized by either the standard plan or an independent plan must be in compliance and registered with the Washington Department of Ecology.
